Note 01

About Cindy

Blonde, wavy, long enough that it reads as a decision rather than an accident. Cindy is 168 cm and slim, with blue eyes and a way of standing that makes a plain dress look costly. Mid twenties. Her Chelsea wardrobe is simple: good denim in the afternoon, something quiet and well made after seven, flat shoes in her bag for the walk home. She does not arrive looking like she tried hard, which takes effort.

Her English is fluent and unforced. She is calm company, the sort who lowers the temperature of a room instead of raising it, and she has a sideways sense of humour that takes about an hour to show up. She paints, not well but often, swims at an unsociable hour, and can tell you which Chelsea galleries are worth forty minutes and which are worth none.

An SW3 evening with her usually means Medlar on the King's Road, a narrow room with a short menu where the staff have time to talk. She likes the corner table, eats everything, and will happily spend twenty minutes on a single course. Chelsea is her home ground, so afterwards she can point you at a quiet bar two streets away or walk you down to the river, whichever the weather allows.

She is an easy woman to spend four hours with and a difficult one to hurry. If SW3 is new to you, read the Chelsea page first, then put a night in front of the booking desk and you will get a yes, a no, or the closest date she can do.

Note 03

An evening with Cindy

She does not need a plan in place by six o'clock, but she likes knowing where dinner is. Give her that and the rest of the night can stay open. She prefers the lobby to the table for a first meeting, on the grounds that the first ten minutes are easier sitting down with a drink.

Dinner on the King's Road runs slowly and she makes no apology for it. Between courses she asks better questions than most people manage, and she is genuinely interested in the answers. When the plates go she will suggest one more stop or none at all, reading which you want rather than asking. If the night ends at the hotel she is unhurried about that too. Nothing about her evening feels like it is on a timetable, because it is not.

Asked most often

Cindy, on the record

Afternoon or evening?
Evening. Chelsea in daylight is a shopping street. After seven it turns back into a neighbourhood, and that is the version worth seeing.
What makes a booking go well?
Telling me what you actually want from the night. I would rather hear it at the start than guess my way through three hours.
Do you know the galleries here?
Enough to steer you away from the ones charging fifteen pounds for four rooms. Ask me before you buy a ticket, not after.

What people wrote back

Nothing has been written up under Cindy yet, which is usually what discretion looks like. A note goes on the board only when a client sends one in writing, she agrees to it, and the office has checked that it reads as a first name, a month and nothing private.
